In spite of this, 64 percent of the British public believe that assisting a terminal patient to end their life does not violate a doctor's oath to not harm their patient, while healthcare professionals are less likely to believe assisted suicided does not break this oath.

The general population were asked: "In your opinion, is a doctor helping a terminally
unwell patient to end their life a violation of their oath to do no harm to their patients?"
And the healthcare professionals were asked : "In your opinion, is helping a terminally unwell patient to end their life a violation of your oath to do no harm to your patients?"
