In 2022, turnover in the German hospitality industry rose significantly compared to the previous year, reaching a new record high of 100.2 billion euros. This means that a significant increase in turnover was recorded in 2022 for the first time since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, and even exceeded the pre-crisis level. More than half of all sales in the hospitality industry in Germany are generated in the food catering and service sector, followed by the accommodation and hotel industry, that account for around a third of all sales.
