Bank financing of the fossil fuel sector reached 735.62 billion U.S. dollars in 2019, up from 639.74 billion U.S. dollars in 2016, the year the Paris Agreement was signed. JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, and Citi were the banks which lent and underwrote the most for the fossil fuel sector between 2016 and 2019.
