Are food prices fairer today than 25 years ago? A considerable share of consumers in the Netherlands seem to think they are not. Roughly half of respondents taking part in this survey stated to believe that food prices today are either less fair or much less fair than in the past. On the other hand, less than 20 percent of survey participants said to believe prices are fairer today.

This question was phrased by the source as follows: "Wil je bij elk onderwerp aangeven of het volgens jou (veel) slechter, hetzelfde of (veel) beter gaat in Nederland in vergelijking met 25 jaar geleden? Een eerlijke prijs voor ons eten, waarbij er bijvoorbeeld meer geld naar boeren gaat" (English: Please indicate for every subject whether in your opinion, in comparison to 25 years ago, the situation in the Netherlands is (much) worse, the same or (much) better? An honest price for our food, for example paying farmers more"
