Popular phone brands by gender in Germany in 2020

Samsung was the most popular smartphone / cell phone brand in Germany both among men and women. Apple’s iPhone fell further behind, and Huawei even more so. Samsung is headquartered in South Korea, with numerous offices around the world and factories in several countries.

Global domination

The Samsung smartphone segment is well-known for its various Galaxy models, which are developed and released onto the market at a rapid pace. Galaxy S, Note, Z, A, M differ based on size, features, cameras and memory volume, as well as, of course, price. These phones operate on Android, which continues to significantly overtake iOS on the German market. Samsung is the main competitor for all existing smartphone brands, currently firmly established as the leading smartphone vendor in the world.

Tethered to life

The number of smartphone users in Germany continues to grow annually, with figures showing an explosive increase compared to a decade ago. Brands will be locked in fierce competition for a long time to come. Smartphone reliance among consumers strengthens not just because of using it for communication with others, but due to the device’s connection to so many areas of daily life through other technological developments. To give just a few examples: mobility apps used on the go, whether checking local transport schedules or booking car sharing; mobile buying and saving tickets for events; mobile banking; apps counting steps taken while walking; scanning boarding passes to get on a plane. The list goes on.
