In 2019, nearly one half of Russians did not support the return of beer sales to stadiums in their country because of potential aggression and unrest that could be triggered by beer consumption. The second most common reason for not supporting beer sales during football matches was the view that people had to be sober and because drinking beer was not appropriate at sports events.
