Among the Latin American countries presented, Chile received the highest score on the internet inclusivity index, with 80.6 points in 2022. In the same year, over 88 percent of the Chilean population was estimated to have access to the internet.
Internet inclusivity index in selected countries in Latin America in 2022
The index assessed 100 countries in four categories: Availability, Affordability, Relevance and Readiness.
The source provides the following definitions regarding these categories:
- Affordability: "cost of access relative to income and the level of competition in the internet marketplace"
- Availability: "quality and breadth of available infrastructure required for access and levels of internet usage"
- Readiness: "Capacity to access the internet, including skills, cultural acceptance, and supporting policy"
- Relevance: "existence and extent of local language content and relevant content"
