Of the total 80 million sown hectares in 2017 countrywide, nearly 60 percent was cultivated with grain corps. Fodder crops occupied the second largest portion of the planted area at over 20 percent of the total. Vegetable and melon food crops covered only one percent of the total sown land in Russia in that year.
