As of 2019, the large majority of people surveyed in the Netherlands indicated that they were optimistic about the future of relations between the European Union and their country. 80 percent of respondents were optimistic about the future of Dutch-EU relations, while the share of respondents who had a pessimistic view of their country's connection to the European Union was a lot lower, at nearly 20 percent.
