Average resident contributions to residential care in Australia FY 2013-2017
In 2017 the average cost to consumers of Australian residential care dropped back down below 19,000 Australian dollars annually. In the previous years between 2013 and 2016 the average cost was rising steadily, peaking at 19,155 Australian dollars in 2016.
Residential care is subsidized by the Australian government. The consumer contribution represents the average out of pocket cost to the residential aged care home resident after subsidies were applied.
