According to a survey conducted in November 2018, 61 percent of Danes stated to have fresh fruit and berries as a snack at least once a week. By comparison, chips, popcorn, salted nuts and seeds were not that popular, as only 28 percent named them. When asking Danes on which days they prefer to have chips after dinner, almost seven percent chose Saturday, making it the favorite day for that kind of snack.
Why do Danes eat snacks?
The most common reason to eat snacks in 2018 was the good taste. A share of 78 percent said that snacks are delicious. Second ranked the idea that snacking is healthy, ahead of the fact that snacks are easy and quick to cook or prepare.
Drinks as snacks
Coffee, café latte, cappuccino etc. seemed to be the favorite drinks to have as a snack in Denmark. This was stated by 47 percent of respondents. Another hot drink came in the second place; 25 percent liked to consume tea. Other mentioned beverages were soft drinks, cocoa, milkshakes, juice and shots (without alcohol).
