What percentage of the candidates were female in the latest Finnish parliamentary election? In 2023, 42.9 percent of the candidates in the parliamentary election were female. When the incumbent prime minster Sanna Marin was sworn in on December 10, 2019, she was both the world's youngest current state leader as well as the youngest prime minister ever in Finland. What is more, Finland was in 1906 the first country in Europe to grant women the right to vote and run for office.
