This statistic presents the share of French people who learned to play a musical instrument during their lifetime in 2017, by age group. In that year, more than 40 percent of respondents aged 18 to 24 knew how to play an instrument, but they no longer played it, or practically no longer. However, more than 70 percent of French people aged 65 and over had never learned to play an instrument in their lifetime.
