The Cox Collection is considered one of the finest collections of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art. On November 11, 2021, auction house Christie's offered 23 lots from the collection as part of an evening sale on 20th-century art. Ultimately, all 23 lots from the collection were purchased, leading to a so-called "white glove sale" that realized around 332 million U.S. dollars. A painting by Vincent Van Gogh titled "Cabanes de bois parmi les oliviers et cyprès" recorded the highest price at the auction, being sold for roughly 71.4 million U.S. dollars. As of the same month, another important art collection, the Macklowe Collection, was sold by auction house Sotheby's in New York.
