Household food waste in Italy 2020, by category
The awareness towards food waste, its causes as well as its economic impact has increased over the years in Italy. As of May 2020, a survey was conducted among Italian households aiming at determining the food wasted on a day, ranked by category. It was found that an average of 40 grams of bread and bakery products was wasted on a day. The food wasted the least appeared to be cheese, as approximately 17 grams were thrown away by Italian families.
