The largest volume of Russian crude steel production was based on the basic oxygen furnace, measuring at nearly 46 million metric tons in 2019. The second most common steelmaking process was employing the electric arc furnace, which was used to produce over 24 million metric tons of crude steel, accounting for an approximately 33 percent share in the total production volume.
