Over the past 20 years, the number of students receiving a grant based on social criteria has significantly increased in France. Indeed, these students were about 450,000 in 2000, compared to around 665,200 in 2022. In the 2022 academic year, approximately 36.3 percent of students were receiving grants based on social criteria.
