Coal demand was forecasted to steadily decrease from around 118 quadrillion BTUs in 2025 to approximately 79 quadrillion BTUs in 2050. Meanwhile, oil demand was forecasted to increase from about 72 quadrillion BTUs in 2025 to about 88 quadrillion BTUs in 2050, and gas demand was forecasted to rise from approximately 36 quadrillion BTUs to 56 quadrillion BTUs.
