Volume of loaded and unloaded roro units handled at the port of Copenhagen 2009-2019

The volume of loaded and unloaded roro units handled at the port of Copenhagen roughly followed the same development between 2009 and 2011. From 2012 onwards, the volume of unloaded roro significantly increased from 46 thousand to 87 thousand metric tons, and an increasing in the difference between the loaded and unloaded volume. In 2016, the gap started to decrease between the loaded and unloaded volumes, and in 2019, 44 thousand metric tons of unloaded and 21 thousand tons of loaded roro units were handled at the Danish port.

The port of Copenhagen dates back to the middle ages, and was originally owned by the royal family of Denmark. Since 2001, the port is owned and operated by CMP, Copenhagen Malmö Port. As CMP also owns the port of Malmö, Danish, Swedish, and Norwiegan markets can be reached with one call, which since the merger between the two ports has resulted in a 70 percent increase in net sales as of 2012.
