In 2021, approximately 6,730 people died from chronic respiratory tract diseases in Cuba, the highest figure recorded since 2013. This represents an increase of 89 percent compared to 2020, when the number of deaths due to chronic respiratory infections reached around 3,560 cases. A year later, the figure decreased to approximately 4,230 people. During the last year analyzed, the main cause of death in Cuba was heart diseases.
