The throughput of loaded and unloaded containers remained roughly around the same level at the port of Aarhus between 2009 and 2018. There was generally a positive trend in both the number of loaded and unloaded containers throughout the period with few deviations. 2009 saw the lowest amounts of loaded and unloaded containers, at 190 thousand and 195 thousand twenty-foot equivalent units, respectively. In 2019, the most recent counts of loaded and unloaded containers were 293 thousand and 281 thousand TEU, respectively.
The port of Aarhus is Denmark's largest commercial port, largest container terminal, and has the largest public bulk turnover as of 2019.
