In financial year 2019, the private insurer ICICI Lombard had a combined ratio of around 92 percent in the own-damage motor segment. And although this was an increase compared to the previous financial year, ICICI general insurance had one of the best combined ratios in the segment. Overall, a higher combined ratio indicates that the company is paying out more money than it is earning as insurance premiums.
