Downloadable content is a way of enhancing the video gaming experience for the players by giving them access to exciting new content which can range from the purely aesthetic changes to upgrades to characters and items. During a 2019 survey of gamers, it was found that competitive gamers spent an average of 425 U.S. dollars annually on DLC and game accessories, some 164 U.S. dollars more than casual gamers.
