Downloadable content is a way of enhancing the video gaming experience for the players by giving them access to exciting new content which can range from the purely aesthetic changes to upgrades to characters and items. During a 2019 survey of gamers, it was found that female gamers spent an average of 359 U.S. dollars annually on DLC and game accessories, some 24 U.S. dollars more than their male counterparts.
