According to an analysis of remittances in South Korea in 2018, China was the top destination country where Koreans in their 50s sent or received remittances from, amounting to an average of 51 thousand U.S. dollars in 2018. The amount for China was more than twice as high as that of any other top destination country. In terms of how many remittances were made to each country, Canada was the most popular, followed by China and Thailand.
