According to a survey conducted in October 2019, almost 24 percent of parents in Japan wanted to buy toys that teach computational thinking in order to prepare their children for programming lessons in school. Programming lessons will become compulsory in Japanese elementary schools by 2020. Close to eight percent of parents were willing to learn programming themselves through correspondence or online courses.
