Owing to the decades long one-child policy, a skewed sex ratio has developed in China. Many single Chinese men, especially migrant workers, have difficulties finding a dating and marriage partner. This situation has given rise to the dating and matchmaking service industry in the country. According to a survey about online dating in China in August 2018, approximately 14.3 percent of the Chinese respondents aged between 18 and 21 years had used the telephone matchmaking services.
