In a survey conducted among married women in Japan in July 2022, around 54 percent of respondents claimed they often talk with their spouses about the time they will return home and their overall weekday plans. The survey revealed that 7.7 percent of married couples never talked to each other about their weekday schedules.

Original question: "We would like to ask about your communication as a couple. Please answer A to K regarding your situation in the past year."
Questionnaires were distributed to respondents during individual visits and, in exceptional cases, mailed to absent households. Completed questionnaires were collected in person or submitted by mail or via the online survey system of the government.
