Women who never worked to take care of children in Italy 2018, by education level

As of 2018, roughly 18 percent of women holding a middle school certificate or a lower qualification had never worked in order to take care of their children. By contrast, the share of women who had chosen to stay with their children instead of working was lower among women with a university degree, about 2.8 percent.
On average, 11.1 percent of women in Italy never held a job in order to stay at home with their children. The average of the 28 European countries was 3.7 percent.
