In 2000, major marketplaces for buying food in Russia were traditional food markets and minimarkets with over 66 percent and roughly 30 percent market shares, respectively. By 2018, the distribution of market players altered significantly. The traditional market's share reduced twice, while discounters, supermarkets, and hypermarkets gained a substantial portion of customers.
