In 2018, a study conducted among Italian consumers showed that products with paper packaging were perceived as more sustainable, fresh, and pleasant than products with plastic packaging. As far as quality was concerned, consumers gave a score points of 3.3 to products wrapped in paper and only three points to the equivalent packaged with plastic material.
