In Poland, domestic travel was more popular than outbound travel in 2018 across all age groups. This type of travel was most common among the younger generation of travelers. Participation in travels outside of Poland showed mixed interest between young adults and the middle aged, with 10.97 percent of participants aged 45 to 54 years stating they participated in outbound travels in that year.

Data is collected by the competent national authorities of the Member States and is compiled according to a harmonised methodology established by EU regulations before transmission to Eurostat. Most of the time, data on domestic and outbound trips (where "outbound tourism" means residents of a country travelling in another country) is collected via sample surveys. However, in a few cases the data are compiled from border surveys. Surveys are generally conducted on a monthly or quarterly basis."
