According to a survey conducted by Rakuten Insight in February 2024, about 64 percent of respondents in India said they had consumed plant-based alternatives to animal-based food products. This share was slightly higher among women than men. However, around nine percent of respondents did not know what plant-based food was, and more among men than women.
