Number of elderly receiving free pneumococcal vaccination in Japan FY 2014-2022
Around 970 thousand elderly people in Japan received pneumococcal vaccination at municipalities in the fiscal year 2022. Japanese municipalities offer free pneumococcal vaccinations to people above the age of 65 years, as well as to people aged between 60 and 65 diagnosed with severe heart or kidney, respiratory system disorders, or human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection.
