The volume of new passenger cars in the Russian car market peaked in 2012 with over 2.7 million new registrations in that year. Since then, the figures decreased, reaching their lowest in 2016 at 1.31 million new registrations. During the following years, the volume of new registrations increased year-on-year, and by 2023, according to the baseline scenario, over 2.1 million new passenger car registrations were expected across the country.
