In 2022, the annual number of daily smokers in Spain amounted to around 7.9 million, up from about 7.8 thousand daily smokers reported a year prior. This figure decreased by about 18 percent compared to 2009, when the number of individuals who smoked daily amounted to approximately 9.6 million in the European country. Tobacco consumption is considered a risk factor for cancer.
