In a survey of 2019, most respondents in Italy (88 percent) declared to have neither Roma friends nor acquaintances. Only ten percent of interviewees affirmed to have friends or acquaintances belonging to a Roma community.
In Italy, Roma and Sinti are target of hate speech and racist attacks. In 2018, 87 episodes of stereotyped speeches occurred.
