At the end of fiscal year 2019, the earnings before interest and taxes of Ashok Leyland were around 25 billion Indian rupees. This was estimated to decrease to around 23 billion rupees by fiscal year 2021. The company was the second largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles in India and the fourth largest bus manufacturer worldwide. It became the first Indian commercial vehicle manufacturer to get the certification of the latest emission standards (to be implemented in April 2020) for its full range of heavy duty trucks.
