The percentage of road transport in total inland freight transport in France saw no significant changes in 2022 in comparison to the previous year 2021 and remained at around 87.4 percent. According to Eurostat, road transport is collected based on all movements of vehicles registered in the reporting country and thus further methodological developments and computations were needed to be done by Eurostat for estimating road transport according to the 'territoriality principle'.
The source adds the following information: 'This indicator is aimed at monitoring the dependence of goods transport on each individual mode. The indicator is percentage of road, rail and inland waterways transport in total inland freight transport (in tonne-kilometres).'
