In 2019, there were in total 1,828 major running sport events held in China. The term major running sport event refers to road running events with more than 800 participants (including marathons and half marathons) and cross-country or other relevant running events with more than 300 participants certified by the Chinese Athletics Association. There is also a growing number of minor running events below that size held in China every year.
