In fiscal year 2021, YES bank had gross non-performing assets to the value of almost 286 billion Indian rupees. This was a jump in the non-performing assets filed by the bank compared to nearly 80 billion rupees in 2019 and around 26 billion rupees in 2018 but a decrease form the previous fiscal year.
In March 2020, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) took control over the bank to avoid its collapse due to the high value of non-performing assets. In July 2020, the State Bank of India acquired a majority of stakes.
