According to a survey conducted by Ipsos on the state of happiness in India, 47 percent of respondents stated that their material possessions bring them some happiness. While 31 percent of the respondents found great happiness in their material possessions.

Question as phrased by the source: "My material possessions: Does or could give me greatest happiness, does or could give me some happiness, doesn't or couldn't make me happy or happier, does not apply to me"
According to the source, respondents were more urban and educated, with higher incomes than their fellow citizens. As such, the results should be viewed as reflecting the views of a more 'connected population'.
