According to a survey conducted by Ipsos on the state of happiness in India, about 45 percent of respondents stated that the feeling of satisfaction with the direction in which their life is going is a very important source of happiness. However, 13 percent of the respondents felt that this satisfaction with life's direction would not or could not bring them happiness.

According to the source, respondents were more urban and educated, with higher incomes than their fellow citizens. As such, the results should be viewed as reflecting the views of a more 'connected population'.
