According to a survey conducted by Ipsos on the state of happiness in India, 46 percent of the respondents stated that their living conditions with respect to food, water and shelter brings them the greatest happiness. Globally, about 86 percent of the respondents found this as their source of great happiness.

According to the source, respondents were more urban and educated, with higher incomes than their fellow citizens. As such, the results should be viewed as reflecting the views of a more 'connected population'.
