About 42 percent of Japanese respondents stated that finding someone to be with contributes to some extent to their personal happiness, according to a survey conducted in June 2019 by Ipsos on happiness. Among 28 countries surveyed, Japan showed the lowest share of respondents claiming to gain greatest happiness from finding a companion.
