In a survey on the state of happiness in Australia conducted by Ipsos in 2019, around 86 percent of respondents stated they were rather happy or very happy. Globally, 64 percent of adults surveyed reported being rather happy or very happy during the same survey.

The question asked was as follows: "Taking all things together, would you say you are: Very happy, rather happy, not very happy, not happy at all?". The results represent those who answered ''Very happy'' and ''Rather happy''.
*Survey fieldwork was conducted in the following periods for each year:
2011 - December 6 to December 18, 2011;
2013 - May 7 to May 21, 2013;
2017 - February 17 to March 3, 2017;
2018 - January 26 to February 9, 2018;
2019 - May 24 to June 7, 2019.
