In a survey conducted in 2019 regarding the main reasons for air pollution in New Zealand, over 50 percent of male respondents stated that motor vehicles and transport was the dominant factor for air pollution. Similarly, the majority of the female respondents stated that this factor was the most responsible for air pollution in New Zealand. Conversely, only five percent of male respondents gave household waste as the reason for air pollution in New Zealand. In 2018, air quality in New Zealand was said to be good, nevertheless, vehicle emissions was highlighted as a key factor which contributed to air pollution.
