Traditional parties and politicians tend to promote traditional values. These ideals are a way to classify the political spectrum in Belgium. According to this Ipsos survey, the feeling of not being cared for by such politics is a durable feeling.
From 2016 to 2019, over half of Belgian respondents shared such a sentiment. The concept of tradition refers to a particular set of values. In big lines, right-wing parties have a stronger affinity to the ways of the past than left-wing ones.
In Belgium, traditional political parties are historically divided into three families. These were the Christian democrats, the social democrats, and the liberals. Nowadays, four big political families exist centrists, socialists, liberals, and non-traditionalists. These are divided into multiple levels such as language and geographical location.
