Regulated and deregulated states reported different average revenues for electric utilities in the United States. Revenues have generally increased over the last decades. In 1997, deregulated states generated 8.1 U.S. cents per kilowatt hour in revenues, while this figure increased to 11.9 U.S. cents per kilowatt hour in 2018.
