While video gaming was seen as a popular activity for Indian youngsters, a 2019 survey specifically about fantasy sports gamers in the country showed that respondents from the largest metro cities spent lesser time gaming than their counterparts in smaller cities. Over 58 percent of respondents from smaller towns and cities in the country played fantasy sports more than five times a week, compared to only 12 percent of respondents from major cities. This indicated that the penetration of fantasy sports was high across the masses in India.
